(5,166 posts)want to live past 59. ( The arrogance of youth. - not just that time but on other occasions as well).
I'm well past 59 now, and still believe I have a reason to live, a mission to fulfill with my family.
Happy birthday, Justin. I hope you are happy today, and have many more happy days and years.
Based on your DU posts, I believe you are a good-hearted person, and we are lucky/blessed to have you among us.

(6,151 posts)Life is what you make it to a large extent, and each season has its joys. One of my favorite little stories or poems told about a young woman looking back at her childhood, specifically a day when she saw grandpa rocking on the porch; she crept up behind him, wondering had he always been the same, the only way she had ever known him, quiet and reserved. Then she heard him sigh, "Oh, Laura, my Laura, I loved you so." The last line reads, "Then I crept silently away, for Laura was not Grandmother's name."
So my best advice - not that you need it or asked for it - is to live life full speed ahead and don't worry about old age. If you make enough memories now, you'll always have them with you for company. It can be very comforting.
