Altho I expect that she, being younger, has the increased metabolism that we all used to have when we were younger.

Old age is indeed not for sissies....sigh.

I was up to 175 and dropped down to 115 over a year's time. I'm at roughly 120 now (depends on whether or not I've had my morning constitutional) but I really need to get back up to 130. It's weird, but I do better at losing weight than gaining it. I haven't eaten a thing all day and I'm not at all hungry. And that's after grinding three garden tools to eliminate rust, sharpening them to sword quality, sanding the handles with 40 grit, and coating them in Rustoleum. The laquer for the handles will have to wait until morning.

Sometimes I just don't feel like eating. I made my wife a shitake and spinach pizza tonight but just didn't feel like having any. I might have some cole slaw or cauliflower and cheese salad, but right now I'm not in the mood. I'll only be up for another 15 minutes while the pizza is cooling. It melted HER butter. I might have sauerkraut for breakfast. That's always good.

Eating problems run both ways. I wish you both the best of luck. Most of it is dietary, but excersize helps in both cases. Muscle weighs more than fat. If she wants to gain weight, nuts are a good way to do it (not peanuts, they're legumes, not nuts, and cashews are seeds from a fragile fruit that can't be shipped). They build muscle without adding fat. Curiously, they're also good for people trying to lose weight, especially walnuts. I haven't figured out how that works yet, but studies have proven it to be true. Apparently brazil nuts are equally useful, but damn are they hard to crack. My grandfather had a rather colorful and politically incorrect nickname for them, not to be mentioned here.
