Anyone else feel guilty after seeing the calories on food?

I don't have problems with my weight and I try to avoid seeing the number of calories, but every time I see the calories posted on the front of a snack or beverage, I always end up feeling annoyed and guilty about consuming some of my favorite foods. Back in the day, it used to be that the calories were only posted in the "Nutrition Facts" area on the back (or sides), but now that's not enough and they're posted in the front.

I'm a gastric bypass patient and only absorb 1/2 of what I eat.

Unfortunately, that means I DO have to worry about vitamins and minerals and I live my life chewing supplements.

She lost 200 pounds. But she has packed on a few pounds since then. the only thing that is keeping her from gaining too much weight again is that she is teacher now and is constantly on her feet in class. So, try to stick to your current eating regimen, vitamins, minerals and supplements for the rest of your life because if not, your stomach will expand again.

I work out so that I can eat whatever I want.
I don't get a six pack, but my Blood Pressure is ok.

I guess I should work on it.

It's finding out that what I thought was one serving is really three servings that bugs me (a little)

When I'm looking at the nutrition label, it's usually at the vitamins and protein section. I exercise enough that I burn off the calories pretty easily.

and have whole foods. That means nothing produced by Kraft, Kelloggs, General Mills, etc. Cook for yourself. Make your own sauces, snacks, etc. If you don't have time to do that, eat simply and have things like apples and other easy and ready to eat whole foods.

All the prepared foods are loaded with fat, salt, and sugar. The only reason the labels are on the front now is that they're scared because the country's obesity and hypertension rates are out of control.

You don't have to diet if you eat whole foods.

I'm rather overweight and have been for most of my adult life. I've lost a LOT over time, and regained. This in spite of having a very healthy diet with, for years, very few processed foods. I could tell you the calories in damn near anything.

At the moment I'm on a program and have a ridiculously low calorie count, 1200 on a big day. I lose maybe a pound a week.

Do I exercise? No, not really. But hope springs eternal.

And yes, I feel guilty. When people say insane, unpleasant things about you it's hard not to internalize it.

After seeing this photo spread: http://www.boredpanda.com/what-200-calories-look-like/

Eventually I want to use this to motivate eating changes for me. But I just had yet another surgery. Can't use my left hand at all. My appetite is not back and nibbling on small amounts of my favorite foods makes me feel better. I'll worry about diets and losing weight another day.
