Anyone remember the chili cheese burrito from taco bell

It's one of the only fast food thinga I can ever say I really enjoyed eating and was kind of addicted to. Well I went to a taco bell recently for the first time in a long time. Turns out it was discontinued

So today the wife and I went to this crazy local place that makes super fancy tacos. I had a fresh salmon taco, a carne asada taco and my new fav...

The Brisket Taco (from their menu)
A House Speciality, and one of Don’s all-time FAVES! Beef Brisket, braised in
Dos Equis Amber Beer, served on a soft flour tortilla with our house-made Ranchera sauce, Cotija cheese, finished with fresh cilantro and onion.

If you're ever in Jax FL be sure to hit Taco Lu near the Beach

At the taco place you can get duck or crab tacos and locally brewed beer. Expensive little puppies, but oh so good. I usually top off the meal with cardamom ice cream from across the way. I can only do this when I'm flush, which is seldom.

This was way back in the 80s, when I was a kid. They offered this thing called a "Taco Light", which was basically a taco with a crunchy white tortilla shell. It was delicious, but for some reason they discontinued it.

ON EDIT:

Look, I even found an old commercial for it!

Damn, that Taco Light was good. Now I really, really want a Taco Light, and they haven't made one since like 1989 or something.

I loved those things. I used to get them when I was working late at night and wanted something cheap and fast to eat on the go. When did they discontinue them?

Then they discontinued the Baja Chicken Chalupa. Then they introduced the crumbly "Doritos" taco shells for the classic tacos. Then they started charging for the senior (previously free) drink. They finally cured me of my Taco Bell fetish. I don't go any more.

I think them getting rid of it basically was getting rid of the last reason I had to go. Since I moved to Houston I've discovered a better alternative called Taco Cabana plus there are some awesome taco trucks

TB is off my radar now because carbs kill my pancreas, but the chili cheese was still available. They still make the red chili, the cheese is standard and so are the tortillas.

Try asking, or try a different location. The good thing about TB is they actually have a pretty limited ingredients list and the variety comes through creative recombination.

Oh, also, they're dead easy to make if you've got access to good tortillas.

(Gah. I miss tortillas.)

They were 99 cents each. That and a small Mountain Dew were my prework dinner (I generally worked from 6-midnight) many an evening.
