Damnit.

I'm just stunned.

Time to repeat what I've been saying since I came here:

This place is 99% awesome. The other 1% can be a real drag, if you let it. There are DUers that I don't always agree with. Some just plain annoy me. I have options. I can ignore them (which I don't do), I can skip over their threads/replies (I do often), I can try to see their point of view (I do my best), or I can appreciate the fact that no matter how we go about things, we're all on the same side.

The funny thing is, I got into a pretty heated battle with a DUer a couple years back. It was as close as I've come to ignoring someone. And then, I noticed that I had actually recced a few of his threads and we had made a few positive remarks to each other over the years. Well...w..t..f? I guess one damned encounter wasn't enough to judge him by. I still don't agree with all he says, but I do occasionally chuckle at his comments and agree with others.

The Lounge is where it happens, folks. This is where we put down the gloves and share our laughs and tears. We somehow forget that someone irritated the crap out of us in GD and let them entertain us with corny jokes or cat pics. We've been accused of cliquishness here, but we're the most mismatched and dysfunctional (in a good way) people on DU and I have yet to see anyone locked out (well, without good reason).

Never forget how to laugh, to forgive, to share, to encourage, to forever celebrate life and the dirty water of The Lounge hot tub.

Love all y'all.

Take care T.

I can't really put my finger on the exact reason. There are probably many reasons.

Even people who hate Democrats and lefties get addicted to DU.

I've been a member for over 10 years. I ditched an older account with the approval of admin. I used to be on here posting every day. I don't have as much free time as I used to, but I still manage to at least log on most mornings before work and check things out for a bit. I quit posting here several years ago over some bullshit that I really should not have let get to me, and I was gone for 6 months. But I came back like so many others have done here.

We just can't stay away. I don't know all of the reasons why, but I think one is that despite the squabbles that go on in more contentious forums, this is still one of the most friendly message boards on the Web I've run across.
