Question about the movie "Don't Say a Word" (SPOILER ALERT) ...

SPOILER ALERT! ... again...

It turns out the number the girl is keeping secret in her head is the number of the grave where her father is buried on Hart island. The 10 million dollar jewel is inside her old toy doll along, which is inside her father's coffin.

Let's forget that the bad guys know for a fact the jewel is in the girl's father's coffin.

Was there no other way for them to figure out which grave was her father's?

Cemeteries have plans that show where all the plots are indexed by name, not just plot number. Pf course, a fake name could have been given but that would be a whole different level of complication since funeral homes and cemeteries require death certificates issued by the government, something that would be hard to fake.
