There is a reason for this, something to do with the brain.

I couldn't wait to learn how to write.

I work with some kids who's printing is so terrible I can't read it.

I forget they can't read cursive, and I write them notes in cursive.

It goes around and round like that.

It wasn't that hard to learn.

And I wish there had been computers then. When I transferred to a new school in Miami, I was in 2nd grade and was still only printing. I was skipped to the third grade where all the kids were writing in cursive. My mother would stand over me at night to make me write in cursive. It was doubly difficult for me because I am left-handed. To this day I cannot read my own writing.

For birthday cards, obituaries, declarations of war ans instruments of surrender. Anything else is just asking for trouble.
