Worst video for a great song?

I'm going with Dire Straights, Romeo and Juliet. The video is weird, and Romeo looks like a serial killer.

12. Actually if you go read the description of the concept, it's just really badly executed.

It's supposed to be minimalist and mimed, but it comes across as lazy and bizarre.

A music video, co-directed by Neil Pollock and Jonathan Bekemeier, to promote the single shows the band playing its instruments through a distorted fish-eye lens, the camera variously panning horizontally across the performance space and vertically over the individual band members. Keeping in the spirit of the mimed performance, Francis and Deal open and shut their mouths in time with their prerecorded vocals, yet make no attempt to articulate their lips in synch with the words that they are supposed to be singing. Instead, they simply keep their mouths wide open with blank expressions for the duration of each verse. Francis stated that "Water on the brain" was the theme of the clip.

4. I have to go with These Dreams by Heart

It isn't a bad video. But the lyrics of that song are so rich in imagery and they mostly just stood there wiggling in front of the camera. They could have done so much more with this video. That is one of favorite songs of all time.

14. A couple of things that strike me

Juliet never looks at Romeo, even when he falls to his death. I suppose the indifference is captured in the lyric of the song, but its depiction here seems extreme.

Also check out those "chains of silver" and "chains of gold." Talk about low budget. No one had real silver or gold necklaces they could borrow for the shoot?

I have always loved this song, but I never saw the video until this week. It in no way captures the images painted by the lyrics.

20. Well, looks like the lion's share of their $50 budget

went to hiring Jeff Foxworthy.

I'm horrified to say that for a brief time in the 80s, I had the same hairdo as that model.
