A woman brought in an antique pocket watch she bought for $20 at a garage sale. It was engraved as being from one Civil War veteran to another for saving his life during the battle of Cross Keys (I never heard of that one). It was in excellent condition, and had a key wind mechanism instead of a stem wind (stem winds came along in the 1890's). It was made by the company that later became Waltham. Rick gave her $1300 for it. I thought it was really cool.

(68,644 posts)I'll reserve judgement, it would be easy to say "well of course they did, they were on TV", but in the real world, these folks live on reputation and being shady or taking advantage of someone would come back to haunt them.
That, and they might just be decent people! Which is a possibility that we often overlook!
Thanks for the post!

(21,020 posts)Things about that show is seeing cool stuff with a history, plus the guys are funny
It's a way better show than Hard Core Pawn, where it's all about family dysfunction and Les Gold appearing to pit his kids against each other even while he's telling them they need to get along with each other. And then there are the "crazy" customers that I suspect get paid for going in and acting like assholes
