(62,426 posts)does the content have to be in 4K? I assumed yes, but I could not find an answer.
Or could it possibly "enhance" a 1084 pic to 4000?
I had no thought of buying one. My thought was that even if it did "enhance" there at some point would need to be content in 4k. That may also mean that DVDs would need to be upgraded. Would satellite systems or cable be able to carry 4k?
Still - what a hell of a picture.

(13,452 posts)So it will make everything from broadcast to Blu-ray stand out -- a little better. There are settable selections for smoothing. Once set, the improvement is clear. It almost makes faces look like they're in 3D.
I happened to be looking at them while a supervisor was training a new employee and watched them go into the menu tree.

(50,560 posts)But consider: theatrical releases of feature films have been 4k for the last four years, and they know how to make a blu-ray disc that will hold one now.
In a year 4k will own the over-$1000 tv market; in three years it will own the market for tvs 55 inches and larger at all price points.

I figure by the time I'm ready for a 4k TV they will be cheaper and stations will be broadcasting in it.
But there's no doubt I'm gettin' one.
