when most entering freshman gals presumed they'd be engaged by the time they graduated.
And many were.
Alas, I didn't marry till 25!
Meanwhile, my husband-to-be (but I didn't know that yet) was at an all-male college.
And likely not thinking about being engaged any time soon.

I remember we would have a ceremony for someone who got pinned or engaged. We would stand in a circle and sing something, and the honoree would be revealed at the end of the song and given a flower and lots of hugs. I had one when I got pinned and then engaged (while in college). We married at a younger age back then!
