Does this sound like a good Christmas present?

I'm kind of broke this Christmas even after pinching every penny I could find. I need to get presents for 6 couples. Two sets of parents, two brothers and their wives and two best friends and their husbands. I have about $30 to spend per couple. My family has lots of money and they each always get me something really nice. I want to get them something that they will enjoy. I thought I would get each couple a movie gift basket with

One or two DVDs $1 - $5 each. There is a place near me that sells DVDs, books and CDs for $1-$5.
One or two CDs $1 - $5 each
A throw blanket $10 - $15
A pair of cute socks $3 each.
A couple of packets of fancy hot chocolate $3

I thought that I would change each gift basket according to each couple. One couple likes music but doesn't watch movies so I would get them two CDs instead of one and maybe a book of poems. I may mix and match things. One couple are health nuts so I would leave out the hot chocolate. Also, none of these couples will be spending Christmas with each other because my family is spread out across the country.

It was a book called "The Clown" by Heinrich Böll. It was obviously not a newly bought book. But it was a great present. That was almost 49 years ago. You don't have to spend a lot to give a memorable present.

Lovely, thoughtful gifts from the heart.

Except I have to say the 'health nut' couple has it all wrong. Chocolate's good for you, at least the dark kind. I like a shot of Irish whiskey in mine. After one - especially 2! - of those, I hardly even hate Republicans. Until it wears off anyway.

I wanted some supplies for them to relax on the sofa with on a cold winter or rainy day. It will be fun picking out each item. They can have the fun of unwrapping each item. Of course, I will include a nice card. I just wanted to check to see if it was a good idea.
