1. Every TWO hours? They're doing it wrong.

2. I've never done any illegal IV drugs because I don't like needles.

I've not been impressed by hospital IV drugs and I've had a few, most recently a hefty dose of Fentanyl and Versed. No, it was not the nice trip promised. I was my usual autistic spectrum analytical self, awake the entire time. People had been sleeping or staring into space in the recovery room for hours but I got right up, found my clothes, put them on, and went to look for my wife. If I hadn't found her I'd probably have escaped Against Medical Advice and walked home. I'm often AMA or non-complaint. My primary care physician, more than twenty years now, has seen a lot.

My life sucks in some ways. If I want to experience "alternate realties" (most of them nightmarish) all I have to do is STOP taking my prescribed meds.

3. One of the bravest people I know is a very close friend

who's a high-functioning schizophrenic. Even on meds - which she takes faithfully - she can hallucinate. She says the way she handles it is by reminding herself that if that snake curled up on somebody's head doesn't seem to be bothering them, she figures it's just her imagination and tries to ignore it.

Still, life can't be easy for her.
