Hotmail question

I just tried to get into HotMail and the account is blocked for 'spam-like activity' which certainly didn't come from me; I send out about 10 or 20 emails a year from that account.

Trouble is, getting back into it involves filling out a form with passwords, CC numbers, etc, which looks like I'm being phished.

No phone number for customer support.

Anyone else experienced this?

How did you get it resolved?

Thanks.

I did finally get hold of someone at support (800-386-5550) who unblocked the account but couldn't tell what led to its being blocked in the first place.

Once had the same kind of thing with Amazon: I tried their 'call-me-back' service number (which had worked fine before) and got a message that that number had been blocked because of 'abuse'. I had only used the feature once before -- with good results -- and no one else is using that number because it's at my desk, at work, in a secured building.

When they fixed their records they said, "have we solved your problem?" I said, I still wanted to know what led to the charge of abuse, got a non-answer answer and "have we solved your problem?" After a few rounds of that I gave up.

But: If I'm being accused of misusing something I sure think I have a right to know what they're complaining about. If someone ELSE is doing it, I need to know what kind of things they're doing in my name.

Frustrating as hell.

It sounds like some spamming firm got access to your account and was sending out spam through your account.

Several months ago I got an email from myself which had only a link to a Viagra site. Someone had hacked my account and sent spams to my entire address book. My current email must be in the address book otherwise I'd have never known. All the sent mail records had been moved to the trash, and I think so had all the bounced emails that had been sent to dead addresses.

I would bet that something similar happened to you.
