well I got screwed today, in a good way :D

2 months ago I had an infection in my jaw and lost a tooth to it.
I had a bone implant. a week ago the dentist said the implant
took, and today the dentist put a Titanium screw in my jaw.
in about 8 weeks I will have a new tooth there, it has been an
interesting trip.
so far no pain, 600 motrin.
I have not taken the hydroncodone yet. not sure how it will effect me.

"I got screwed today, in a good way" oh really?

And the typo "I had an infection in my jar". Don't they make a cream for that

Seriously though glad to hear you are feeling better. Be careful with the hydrocodone that stuff can take you for a trip

If you do take it be prepared for the side effects. A good laxative is not a bad idea.

Speaking as someone who has had to take far too much of that stuff in the last couple of decades....

A torn rotator cuff, a knee replacemrnt and three broken ribs, all in the last few years, I would rather the pain than the constipation!

I take the laxative WITH the hydrocodone. It works pretty good unless I can't hold down liquids.

But yeah - I quit taking them as soon as possible - still have a few left over from this last surgery.

I had both knees replaced last year - two different procedures; carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve relocation on right side last December; November this year carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve relocation AND arthroplasty on the left thumb. I'm running out of joints to refurbish - I think my hips are next since I've had both shoulders worked on.

As was my father right up to the week before he passed. I really hope I inherited the genes to make it for as long in as good a shape as them.

I started taking GRAVOL, dimenhydrinate, about a year back 1/2 recreationally. I wouldn't actually take a recreational dose, people take it to hallucinate and the like, but enough to get a body high out of it and knock me out. I took it cause I was in a pit of depression and anxiety at the time and looking for something to numb me. While it's not in the same family as hydrocodone it is a CNS depressant so in terms of GI tract it's similar. After some months of this I developex, well, let's just say problems. Even went to the hospital to get an Xray I had impacted stools.

On one level I can see why people would take oxycodone or hydrocodone recreationally - but the side effects are not pleasant as you found! And getting free of the addictive drugs can be hard.

There have been times in my life when it would have been nice to be numb - but I've learned that keeping busy, physically and mentally, help me to cope better than any substance. It's harder now, while I am recovering from surgery to manage that, though. I'm having days when I am really cranky because I'm frustrated and not sleeping because I can't do much during the day. That's why I'm here posting at 4:30 in the morning...

I made it thru the night with just 1 dose of 600 mg of Motron, and
the 500 mg of Amoxillion.

I will keep the hydroncodone in case I need it, but I feel pretty good.
