I haven't been on a plane since 2004 and will be flying this weekend for the first time since then.

Hit me up with tips on everything. I will be checking a bag.

1. Put on a nicotine patch even if you don't smoke

It'll set off the metal detector.

You'll get extra attention.

4. Be very careful WHERE you put it on!!!

2. Don't wrap your gifts

They will make you unwrap your gifts in order to inspect them.

3. I won't have any of them

Xmas is all but cancelled this year as my plans will most likely involve a funeral.

The only gifts I have are baby clothes.

5. Take a Kindle with a few downloaded books and magazines...

and be patient. Flying is crowded, often delayed, and not much fun today. Take your meds and an extra outfit in your carry on because they may lose your suitcase.

6. I plan on downloading 2-3 books tonight

Will the airport have outlets so I can charge my Kindle during my layover?

(I have a 3 hour train ride after a day of flying)

7. Amtrak should...

I travel by train for work often. The seats have power outlets.

Some airports have outlets, some don't. If you can't find them around the seats, some of the restaurants/bars might.

8. some airports have charging stations now...at least the big ones

9. be a good Samaritan

and bring a 3 in 1 outlet converter to allow more travelers to use the plug with you!
