(11,012 posts)possibly Raynaud's phenomenon. After just a few minutes in temps below 30 degrees, the center of my gloved or mittened hands start to have a burning sensation, like a red hot poker has just gone through them. Feet then start to hurt and go numb in a relatively short period.
Cold winter wonderlands may be incredibly beautiful, but for me are torture. So, Florida is a paradise in my eyes.
Merry Christmas to you with your beautiful snowy cold... I'll just be decorating the palmetto trees (bushes) in weather that only goes below 45 degrees a few times a winter.

(30,947 posts)And may reach the middle 40s by 4 p.m. And just as cold for Christmas with temps in the low 20s in the morning. But I love it. We only get one or two snowfalls a year and I rejoice when it happens. But it doesn't stick around for long.
When I lived in Miami, there was one winter that the temp went down to 15 degrees. I still laugh when I remember seeing all the cars lined up at the service stations to get anti-freeze.

But then we have no salt or sand trucks, no snow plows, no snow tires, and no snow plans down here.

(11,012 posts)summer heat... It sinks into the bones and feels wonderful...
However, one can always go back inside to air conditioning.
I will grant that August and September can be darned uncomfortable when a tropical storm or hurricane takes out the electricity... Skin gets so super heated that the unheated water in the shower is a major shock to the system.
