Would you like to see and or support a movie group?

I asked skinner in the ask the admin group about this and he admitted that it seemed like an odd oversight. I proposed that I could host such a group if he would like to create one but no answer. I'm guessing I need to make a more formal proposal. First though I want to gauge how much support there would be here for a movies group. Would you be interested in a dedicated movies group?

There are already a number of entertainment groups on DU, including one dedicated specifically to classic films, but I'm thinking of a dedicated movies group where we can discus all things movies. I'd like to post movie reviews as that's a hobby of mine that I've been doing for a while. I'm sure others would like to do the same. We can also post links to trailers and discus upcoming films. Talk about favourite genres and nostalgic films etc. certainly we do a little of this in the lounge but it would be great to have a dedicated home for us movie lovers.

Would you support such a group?

If there seems to be broad support I'll type up a proposal and post it in the ask admins group. Also would anyone else be willing to host such a group with me?

1. I occasionally post in the Entertainment section, in the classic films subsection

hoping to get some discussions going regarding old movies but rarely are there responses. I know that posts regarding films in the Lounge are often popular. Hopefully a movie group section will get enough traffic and will be visited often enough to make it worth visiting, if it's not too far off the beaten path at DU. It would probably be better if it were added as a separate "topic" that can be seen upon entry at DU instead of having it be inside a subsection like Entertainment. I'd support it.

2. I very much doubt that would happen...

I agree getting enough people into the group will be tough at the beginning and it's key to making it an interesting place. But I highly doubt that Skinner et al. would be interested in making it any higher profile than any other group. They wouldn't want to detract from the main political focus of the site and I understand that.
