I worked in various restaurants in my youth and I cored thousands of heads of lettuce by slamming them on the table. Worked every time.

And while I think he probably could have used shorter dry spaghetti noodles, I agree with him re: just eat the rest of the damn cake.

to eat lots of blue cheese and bacon bits. I love it for that but I don't pretend I'm eating anything healthy lol.

and never really went back to it. Learned to appreciate romaine, butter and other kinds of great lettuce instead. There's nothing like the first home-grown romaine in springtime.

but I did live in Owings Mills for about 9 months when I was in 2nd grade. My cousins are from Pasadena and I went to the Maryland Death Fest in Baltimore in 2009, '10 and '11 (it's handy having a cousin that can put you up for 4 days instead of paying downtown hotel prices)

Mr. Chavez was the man.

but I've seen them online and seen a how-to page on making some from regular chop-sticks and rubber bands.
