Weekend music to chill by.....One Fiddle Fugue Edition!

Joseph Szigeti was one of the 20th century masters of the fiddle. I have a vinyl recording of the Bach Unaccompanied Sonatas and Partitas by Szigeti.

(There are six, with varying numbers of movements, often dance forms such as gigues(jigs), sarabandes, minuets and bourrees)

Hubby helpfully transferred my recordings to CD with his editing software.

These are played on ONE instrument, FOUR strings. They will blow your mind if you study them. I think they are the musical equivalent of higher math. I attempted to study small pieces of them when I was 15.

Joseph Szigeti lived from 1892 to 1973. His last name is pronounced
Sih-Get'-e.

What's a fugue?
a contrapuntal composition in which a short melody or phrase (the subject) is introduced by one part and successively taken up by others and developed by interweaving the parts.

And when it comes to 20th century fiddlers, I probably only know of Zacharias and Vanessa Mae.

Sounds like Stephane Grappelli applied to pop music.
Love the cover "High Fidelity Low Anxiety"

can't say I like Vanessa Mae's noodles. Oh well. De gustibus non disputandum (there is no accounting for taste).

Thanks!!
