?w=620&h=349&crop=1

MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Miami Fire Rescue, trying to put out a fire in an abandoned home, found three kittens inside while searching for victims.

According to fire officials, they were dispatched just after 5:00 p.m. to the home located at 529 NW 56th Street.

While units responded, neighbors attempted to use garden hoses to prevent the fire from spreading. Firefighters were able to put out the fire by removing all the plywood from the windows and doors.

While searching the house for victims, crews found the kittens trapped inside. One kitten sustained minor smoke inhalation and the other was not responsive. A third kitten was located inside the house but died from smoke inhalation.
