The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHad to excuse myself from a jury.
Topic was "should bad people get raped in prison?"
The poster who wanted it hidden was upset about "pro-prison-rape" posts, but having read the thread, I could understand the urge for painful justice.
I had to excuse myself because I could understand all sides TOO well.
Sorry, DU.

(8,217 posts)I tend to excuse myself when the topic makes it hard for me to be impartial.

And then I read the alerters comment, and went, "yep, what I want to happen is WRONG."
I just couldn't give a reasonable answer. I hope other jurors will do a better job.
Like I said, when I can't do it, I skip, otherwise it would take me a long time to deliberate.
Which I did once. Took close to an hour. I am sure others were trying to figure out why they haven't gotten a response on the jury yet. That was probably me.
Chances are, I wouldn't have said anything either.

(10,559 posts)It is a personal issue. Hopefully someone will post a picture of a kitty to cheer me up.
Pretty please?

(12,132 posts)I don't think I want to even read a thread that would make me consider someone should get raped in prison.

(10,559 posts)give reasonable jury duty. This one, I just *couldn't* be fair about it. Both sides were entirely right.
