I just set up a computer for my mom ... needless to say, the passwords she wanted and would be easy for her to remember ended up being pretty much nothing like the final one in the OP (without the cussing, though I'd have like to!).

And by the time you get the site/machine to accept the password, you've typed so many variations, you forget exactly which one it accepted... and have to start over.

the most secure password you can ever have, isn't one that contains any of those things. It's one that contains an accented character like:

æ ß ç à á â ã ä å é ê ë ì

ægiS1234 is more secure than anything one could contrive within those guidelines because most code-breaking software does not run permutations containing accented characters and most people would never guess them.

For that matter, so is scheiß.

Generate 100+ bit passwords for all your sites and just copy and paste them. Only have to remember one strong password.

That's pretty trivial to work out. Would have been more fun with an integral over some range.

Er, I mean nothing. I never, ever use the same password twice.

(I hope you bought that--or you might figure out how to see my online grocery preferences and find out how much I like brie, or something equally compelling. )

Swiss is the only other cheese that I eat regularly. That I use in omlettes and sandwiches. Brie, on its own, out of a few seconds in the microwave, is my guilty pleasure. But, now, thanks to my big mouth keyboard, my secret is out.

The credit union protocol was so strict, they apologized and simplified it. 6 months later. After I'd given up trying.
