Place a strip of tape, cellophane works just fine and is in most every office I've ever been in, under the mouse stopping the ball or laser eye from getting a reading. The person will reboot the computer, call tech support, shout, scream, and bang their head before they turn the mouse over.

Another one I did was to take a picture of one of the less desirable co-workers, and print out a copy of the picture. Then I went to the co-workers computer, uploaded the picture and set it as their background, then covered the monitor with the printed out picture in glorious color. The target walked in and sat down, saw the picture dangling by one piece of tape across the monitor, sighed tiredly like this was stupid. Pulled the picture and saw the picture again.

Person picks up a call, doesn't hear anything, then hangs up. Or they try to make a call and get no dial tone.

I did this to a co-worker and found him disassembling the phone to figure out what the problem was.
