Temperatures in single digits Fahrenheit with a howling wind blowing through the canyons of Manhattan, bringing the wind chill to 15 or 20 below zero.
Three days ago, when I was visiting my brother in northern Virginia, and it "only" got down to 15°F, I was barely complaining.
But that first week in New York--I met a colleague from Siberia while I was there, and even HE said it was cold!!

It was the sharp drop in temps, the glass could not handle the two panes of glass being at such radical temp differences.
