Metlife Stadium? What happened to GIANTS stadium?

I really hate these new names. You can make a valid argument for "Ford Field" in Detroit, but I miss the days when forums were named after people of note, like the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome or dedicated to an important segment of society like Soldier Field.

After Moda Insurance. Hate the fact an insurance company paid millions of dollars for that. It will always be the Rose Garden to me.

I'd say next door but I don't know for sure. I do know the city is still paying for it.

Giants stadium. When the public was building stadiums they could name it. The Giants and Jets used mostly their own money, by a very large majority, for that stadium.

After they blew up the Kingdome they built a dedicated baseball stadium and a stadium to play both kinds of football in. Safeco Insurance bought naming rights for the baseball stadium. The Qwest phone company bought the football stadium. Then Qwest was bought by CenturyLink and the football stadium was renamed CenturyLink Field.

About three minutes after this happened, the sports editor of the Seattle Times started calling the hallowed ground Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch trod upon "The Clink."

The new stadium was built by the jets and Giants both paying 50% of the costs. It was originally called new Meadowlands stadium but than metlife bought the naming rights. So now every preseason we get to enjoy the Giants and Jets play each other in the snoopy bowl and no that's not a joke

I'm with ya. It is EFFin' RIDICULOUS!!--as if these corporations represented something more than profits for the 1%! It's all about the $$$s, sadly. Makes me wonder what, if our civlization collapsed tomorrow and wasn't discovered again for a few thousand years, would an archaeologist think--"WTH is a 'MetLife'??!?" Or a "QualComm??!?"......
