Consider the following story, and tell me what the DU response should be?

Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.

Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

Well the first thing you know ol' Jed's a millionaire,
Kinfolk said Jed move away from there
Said Californy is the place you ought to be
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

Hills, that is. Swimmin pools, movie stars.

I liked that show as a child, and when I got older and understood some of the jokes, I thought it was hilarious.

Existing Oil companies would mine his property.

It was alright as a show. I couldn't really get in to it, I think the age/culture gap was too much.

reinforces stereotypes used to exploit the people of Appalachia.
Pounding into their hearts the feeling of being lower class and worthless is a tactic used for over a hundred years by the mining companies and now by polluters like Freedom industries.

it is a mockery of Steinbecks "Grapes of Wrath".
