Springsteen opens Perth Arena show with "Highway To Hell" cover...

Bruce Springsteen knows just how to endear himself to an Australian audience. He kicked off his show at the Perth Arena on a thrilling note Friday night, opening the set with a cover of native sons AC/DC's 1979 hit, "Highway To Hell."

The song choice served as a fitting tribute to late AC/DC singer Bon Scott, who grew up near Perth and died in 1980, leaving Highway to Hell as his final album with the band. The cover came to a head with a four-way guitar face-off between Springsteen, Nils Lofgren, Steven Van Zandt and Tom Morello.

Springsteen managed to mumble his way through one of Bon Scott's finest.

Then again, Springsteen only has two modes of singing: Mumble mumble mumble and the sound you'd hear if you kicked a water buffalo in the nuts.

It's gonna be tough to cut the cord.

I love to watch Max because he is so focused and obviously having a blast. Of course that is true for the entire band.

I was confusing retirement with recovery. He had heart surgery a few years ago.

In February 2010, Weinberg underwent a twelve-hour open heart valve repair surgery to correct a condition he had known about and had been monitoring since the mid-1980s.[5][88] His recovery took place over three to five months, and Weinberg kept news about the operation private until an interview eight months later.
