Canada Geese

Me: There is no species of geese collectively known as 'Canadian' Geese.

Period.

It's not semantics.

1. How did you end up

in an argument about geese? Snow Geese, Canada Geese, White Geese, Geese, Tasty Geese.. All the same to me

2. I suspect outside of your circle, you would be in the minority.

Everyone I know calls them Canadian Geese. We do see a lot of them in Northern New York. Are they still Canadian Geese if they stop 20 miles short of the border? I usually have 30 or so spend the summer in my meadow between the house and the river. Very messy birds but fun to watch.

They are really loved on the golf courses!

3. NPR called them "Canadian geese" in a story last year.

Unsurprisingly, they were roundly corrected by many listeners.
