Asking for some of the famous DU vibes for my son

who flew up to New Haven last night to interview today for one of the graduate programs
at the Yale School of Drama! Their process includes a campus tour, interview, and
a chance to see a theater production tonight. He'll fly back to Chapel Hill tomorrow
and be here until he returns to Berlin March 1st to finish out his Fulbright. It probably
will be sometime in March that he'll hear from them whether he's been accepted
and what kind of financial aid they are able to offer.

I posted about this previously: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018566865

I had the most amazing dream last night and woke up laughing because I knew EXACTLY what
it meant: I am very hopeful and optimistic that he's going to be offered a spot at Yale.

Please hold good thoughts for him today! Thanks!

of a Yale rival I shouldn't be doing this but I hope his interview goes spectacularly well. Yale drama has some fantastic programs.

He is SUPER excited to have gotten the chance to interview at Yale and it's clearly his first choice.

and I can vouch for that. Yale drama alumni/ae include Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Angela Bassett, and Paul Giamatti, who was a legacy of sorts, since his dad was president of Yale.

he's the third generation in our family to have that love...his great aunt and great uncle
were graduates of The Pasadena Playhouse in the 1940's!

but my husband does have musical talent so not totally out of left field. We have artists, musicians and writers - so why not musical theater? I am learning that "theater people" are a lot of fun too!

Just got off the phone with my son who is at the airport waiting to board flight
to come home.

They told him they'd let him know BEFORE he goes back to Germany--which, to me, sounds
like a very good chance he's in the first round of acceptances and they'll want to know if he accepts...or a definite no. He said,
as far he could determine, that there were 12 candidates for 6 spots...which gives him a 50% chance.

PLEASE continue to hold good thoughts! We're going to be on pins and needles here!

I just got a phone call--and he'd just gotten the e-mail acceptance into Yale School of Drama
graduate program he wanted!

We're so excited!

He flies back to Germany at 6PM tonight to finish out his Fulbright Scholarship studies.

Man, oh, man, are we excited!

He made the final 12 cut, and that will be whittled down to three.

He has to direct a portion of a play today in front of a committee I guess.

Good luck to both!

My son also was in a cut to 12 interviewees with 6 spots available. Did you see
my post above? He was accepted! Got the e-mail yesterday about 3 hours before
he had to leave for the airport for his trip back to Berlin to finish out his Fulbright
year.

We were on pins and needles for the last week because they told him when he left
his interview 10 days ago that they'd let him know before he returned to Germany. When nothing
came on Friday, we were all having a hard time staying hopeful. But, then, the e-mail
appeared on Saturday!

Oops! Just saw your other post, too!
