To me is usually better than the original.
Then again, I may have a low bar and all of his things are instrumental.

(10,558 posts)For about a decade I fancied myself to be a photographer who worked with local musicians. I met a lot of talented musicians but one stood out above the rest. Her name is Juli Morgan. When I met her she was 19-20 years old and was a self taught guitarist. She had been playing guitar for only a couple of years but even then she played better than any other guitarist I had ever heard. Her goal was to be the next Joe Satriani and she played a lot like him. By the time she had reached her 4th year on the guitar she got to open for Joe Satriani. At the end of her set she received a standing ovation from Joe's audience-a rarity I am told. Her vids are all over You-tube should you care to check her out she is now around 40ish. This poor quality vid is from that gig opening for her idol Joe Satriani back in 1994-5, keep in mind she has only 4 self taught years of guitar playing under her belt when she did this back then. (I still brag about her all these years later btw)

(10,558 posts)I believe she must be close to 40 in this vid from Nov 2013, it aint one of her original pieces but what you hear and see here is what I got to see and photograph about 2 decades ago when she was just starting out.

(10,558 posts)I just knew about her passion for Satriani. I wish I had access to the rest of that video from the Satriani Gig, even her screw-ups sound GREAT! She mixed in both faster and slower stuff. Her slow stuff was magical but when it came time to shred, well she caused jaws to drop. I heard it was customary back then for Satriani fans to boo at his warm up acts, Juli instead got a lengthy standing O!
