World's Largest Oyster Is One Big Bivalve

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/world-39-largest-oyster-one-big-bivalve-170139298--abc-news-topstories.html

A Pacific Oyster found off the coast of Denmark has officially been named the world's largest, according to Guinness World Records.

The oyster measures 13.97 inches in length and 4 inches in width, which is around a size 11 shoe. This large oyster also has five other oysters attached to it. In total, it weighs over 3.5 pounds, says a spokesperson from Guinness World Records.

This Pacific Oyster originates from the Danish shores of the Wadden Sea and is now calls the Vadehavscentret (Wadden Sea Center) home.

Scientists estimate the oyster is between 15 and 20 years old.

They must really, really need aphrodisiacs over there! Maybe they threw it some leftover giraffe parts.

but I want to eat that Bivalve raw on the half shell.

That said -- want is not a reality. I could never eat something that magnificent.

A dozen little ones? oh hell yeah! with cocktail sauce and lemon!

They have the texture of "natural" shoe soles or huge gummy solids that taste and chew like overcooked clam strips.

I thought of that as well.

my gluttony got the best of me, I can admit this.

I still want a couple dozen raws on the half shell. Rappahannock are my current faves.

That is one whale of an oyster! And by the way...

We're gonna need a bigger bottle of cocktail sauce.
