How do I get from crimson pendant lights to burgundy picture mattings?
Unfortunately, I had to make a rush decision on the lights because something has to be installed for the inspection.
So I have these colors to work with, and need greens or blues or brown shades to tie it together--Panera style. Any suggestions?

(1,136 posts)Here is a fun site to play around with:

Pick the primary color you want from the list, then it shows you colors that go with it.
In general, go with colors on the opposite side of the color wheel for interest and contrast, I just try to keep the hues similar (brights, muted, etc.).

I don't understand what you mean by Panera style though
Good luck!

You can see the colors better now that there is more light, though I still haven't vacuumed
Going by your pic of the room design, using the painting of the poppies as a guide, I would paint the wall behind the lights a dark grayish blue, the wainscoting would be deep gold/brown and that top outcropping wall would be cream.
Make the vinyl rich brown and the wood black except make the table stems the same deep red as the lights. I've included a pic of the throw pillow in case you have to add those inserts of color into the vinyl booths.
Paint the walls in the room to go with the colors from the rug which you have used to create the tile floor, be sure to include a few burgundy tiles, but not too many, only use the reds as accents.
You have a fun job, I know it isn't all colors and design, but good luck and if you think of it, give us a picture of your final project. Of course I don't think you will use my scheme, but I am hoping it will give you ideas.

(46,705 posts)I came across this page of fabrics that I found interesting. I want to buy black ladder back counter chairs for the island and change the fabric on the seats.

(12,272 posts)Where are you? Is it going to be a Panera place? I love ladder back chairs, I think most people do. This is another smaller rug we have, it reminds me of the pattern you posted, though I know I mix patterns and color quite a bit, people are actually surprised that they like it after a while. I know for a restaurant you have to be more conservative. I like the pattern you like, but do you realize that it has an ethnic feel to it? I jumped right into this designing thing with you because you decided to mix red with burgundy and that takes a certain kind of taste.

(46,705 posts)I am not intentionally going for anything ethnic. I suspect that ethnic fabrics are free to be bolder?
For example, if those reds in your new picture were more vibrant, I would like that one too.
I just found out something that is pretty cool. The pendant lights are burgundy looking when they're off, and crimson red when they're on.

(46,705 posts)I'm not sure if I'll be able to hone in on it, but I will try.

(12,272 posts)Very, very cool about the lights too. I sure hope you will post a picture when you are finished

(12,272 posts)Gah, not that I want to go all woo, but seriously reds, burgundies and oranges together? Only the people I have known that want to mix those colors have been Leos or Scorpios. And then your tease about showing-off, kind if capped it for me. I certainly don't want to stop you, I think it will be a wonderful place to enjoy a meal and I want to see it.

I think I'm breaking through the tan phase, which has lasted more than 5 decades. I'm guessing that this is my midlife crisis.

(11,785 posts)White would be too stark, IMO.
