The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI met Dweezil Zappa Friday night! How was your weekend
I volunteer for a local concert venue here in Wilmington and our concert on Friday night was Zappa plays Zappa. It was a tribute concert for the 40th Anniversary of the release of Apostrophe (') and Roxy & Elsewhere. It was a really great show too. Dweezil has some skills.
Afterwards there was a meet and greet and as a volunteer I was asked if I would maintain the front of the line to ensure all the people stopping by for the Meet & Greet didn't overcrowd the performers. Even with my bad knees I wasn't going to say no to that. The younger Zappa and his bandmates did a great job greeting all the guests, signing autographs and posing for pictures. After he was done then he did the same for us who worked the line.
What a great volunteer job!

(21,046 posts)I saw Zappa in 1982 on the "You Are What You Is" Tour.
Amazing musical experience. Frank conducted the whole thing with a baton, like an orchestra, because it was so complex.
I saw a funny show once called "Happy Hour" hosted by Ahmet and Dweezil. At the end everybody sang along to an old sixties rock song.
