we picked up some e-cigs the other day and there is one camel left in the pack. i'm going to bring it to work with me just in case, but my goal is to still have it at the end of the night.
the e-cig worked well enough yesterday, although i smoked a few because it was a shit day. i've made it through my wake up routine so far without issue, so we'll see how today goes.
the real test is going to be when i have a drinking night. that's not something that happens often, but i smoke a lot more when i drink.
wish us luck.

(26,117 posts)Take it one day at a time. I don't know of anyone who regretted quitting.

(54,256 posts)I've regretted it a dozen times.
Then I discovered that if you don't quit, you don't regret it.

(153,160 posts)when I started my successful quit attempt, I temporarily suspended any alcoholic beverages - it was such a strong trigger - that's the key to successfully quitting: identifying your triggers and dealing with them

(3,065 posts)I quit on Feb. 16 and haven't touched one since. I do however use the patch and the e-cig. My trigger is when I get in the car. Put it in gear and light one up. Or right after a meal, I need a smoke. I've been able to distract myself during those times and now I don't even think about it.

(153,160 posts)I advise smokers who are trying to quit, for example, to first stop smoking in the car - that way when they quit, that particular trigger is gone

(153,160 posts)OK fizzgig, get on this website and educate yourself about smoking and how to quit......I found it very beneficial INDEED to read Joel's Libary:

he nails EVERY smoker excuse including the myth that smoking relaxes you - now you check it out!

(36,827 posts)Seems like in some cases controlling those types of things would be more of a problem. Some people seem to like to smoke as a reward for some other behavior that might not be so bad.

Go figure.

(3,065 posts)is that my sense of taste and smell have improved greatly. It's a double edged sword though. Some of the people I'm around on a construction site really stink.
Stay strong, fizzgig. I'm right there with you. We can quit together.

(53,410 posts)Good luck! Just remember that once you're a smoker, you're a smoker forever. Having one cigarette one or two years later just gets you all hooked again.
When you succeed you will never regret it. Never.

(24,146 posts)got through wake up time, drive time, work, drive time and hanging out at my buddy's. he smokes inside and i always chain smoke when i'm there, but left the one camel in my pocket. nursed a few beers, beat that. left that last smoke in the car and i know i'm not going to walk across the complex to get it.
it's been 24 hours and i've been sucking on the e-cig like crazy, but i made it.
