It's how the rest of the world writes the date.
The countries in purple are the only ones who get the "pi day" jokes. Everyone else in light blue writes it 14.3.2014, 14 Mar 2014
Now get the Hell off my lawn.
Kidding but when you work with people from all over the world days like January the 6th might be confusing. 6/1/2014 appears to the rest of the world to say June 1, 2014. Just putting that out there. I always prefer 14 Mar 2014, it clears things up.

They're wrong. They also measure things funny and some drive on the wrong side of the road. We're awesome.
