The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo I googled myself
And there is a guy with my exact same name who's doing a lot better with it than I am. He's a high power, high dollar attorney in a big city. It's kind of a bummer that I'm not the best me that there is.
When you google yourself do you actually find anything good about yourself, or is there another you who is doing better than you are?

(35,015 posts)He might be a right wing conservative asshole. You are you - don't compare yourself to a name on a computer of a guy you've never met.
If you're happy, that's good enough.

(34,138 posts)She gets to travel all over the world and writes books about her trips. Apparently she's pretty well known - I've had people ask if I am her.
While I like the idea of traveling, I don't actually enjoy doing it. Maybe I should travel vicariously by reading my other me's books?

(5,946 posts)On of the people with my married name is a young basket ball player, she is very good and is looking to make it a career
But the other thing that shows up is a quote I made on a message board that was taken out of time and context and posted around the world to show how foolish some women are. I was speaking to someone I knew well on that board that was making a fantasy comment and I basically told them we heard it already, enough stop with posting that same thing - but it came out like I thought it was horrible for anyone to post that idea. Every time I see it I want the rip out the throat of the woman who took it out of context and got her article posted every where with my board name on it, the one that I use on most boards.- why should someone get success while making me look foolish. This was the only time I was quoted - why does it have to be this???? Sometimes I hate the media.

(22,000 posts)Even found a few people with the same first, middle, and last name.
Here is the really freaky shit. After my parents divorced, my dad then married a woman with the same first and last name as my mom only her (his second wife) middle name had an "e" on the end. So essentially they had almost identical names. It turns out years later she ran a credit report and for some reason my name and my brother's name were on it even though we weren't her children.

(21,020 posts)There are 8 of me that show up on a Google White Pages search.
The real me lives in Mass. It gives the names of two people I know (which I do)
The other "me" lives in Las Vegas. It gives the name of one of those two people I know in Mass, PLUS it gives Mr Pipi's name (which doesn't show up on the REAL me's mini profile).
I've never been to Las Vegas, ever.
Oh, and there's another me on Facebook, too, and another Google link shows images associated with my name.
There are a ton of photos there, and three of them are actually mine, taken from Facebook. Luckily, they're not personal. Just some closeup photos of a rosebud, some honeysuckle, and a frog in my pond.

arcane1
(38,613 posts)Which is funny because when I first came up with it, for some ancient now-forgotten site, I added the "1" because "arcane" was taken. So I lack originality in user names, but for my real name only 4 results come up. One of those results has all of my mother's info but it's attributed to my name. Go figure
