The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsO.K., this is exactly why we/humans love canines and not felines
This person's first words were, "I hate this country." Fine. So we both said we were waiting for somebody, her a half hour earlier than I. She also said she is from Iran. Fine. But born here and never been there. Fine. And we talked about the "Shahs of Sunset" which she said is a totally fucked product, fine.
Then she said she is a RN - a high fucking RN - fine. She also said she hates her doctor. Fine. And that she was going to be in surgery at 5 A.M. Fine. And that the hot dude she was waiting for is a Canadian. Fine.
Anyway, the hot dude she was waiting for was a "Canadian" fine. So he actually *did* show up. Fine. Then when she went to the loo he said she's a crazy-whatever and that he's only seen her 3 times and I said I'm glad I'm not under the knife at 5 A.M. AND HE said (about her being an RN), "Well, that's what she says..."
That's why I like my dogs.

(115,879 posts)I don't think I'd love the person you described, however. But cats and dogs have nothing to do with the awfulness of this RN, who I'm glad will never be involved with any surgical procedures of mine.

(70,755 posts)Well, first the main point, what does it have to do with cats. Well, I'll do some forensics on my thought processes, which will probably offend with the stereotypes.
Start with the superstitions about cats, the perhaps ignorant things -- suffocating babies and such, catlike deviousness, torturing prey, all the stuff.
As for the woman in this story, she acted and looked like the femme fatale in B movies -- slinky, devious, possibly mentally unhinged. Catlike in the non-purring sense. The Canadian "boyfriend" who said he is not a boyfriend, while physically fit had a Milquetoast air about him, like he was in way over his head and almost whimpered for help.
I think this is enough, and in broad strokes just think about the ignorant stereotypes that dogs are lovable and cats are devious and that's all we can hope to get from this.
