I recently acquired a set of Bose 901 series II speakers but did not get the special EQ that comes with it. Now I know that Bose are generally dissed by most, but I just want to hook these up in my shop.
I have hooked them up to a number of "regular" receivers, but get poor sound and volume--I know these things can thump--
Is there a way to get these to work half-way well without having to buy the vintage and expensive EQ on Ebay?
(I'm not sure why I need it-I usually listen to NPR and WPR anyway!)
Thank you in advance.

Old and In the Way
(37,540 posts)6 speakers. he built his own EQ, too...and had a massive MacIntosh amp to drive them. Pretty damn impressive audio for those times, I can tell you. Today, I don't know if you couldn't use use software to control the frequency bands?
