But given that they are more or less genetically identical with the mountain lion of western lore, the irony of calling them "mountain lions" in a mountain-less habitat is just too delicious to resist.

The invasive, large constrictor snakes are a big threat to them - not to the adult cats but to the kittens. I hate the fact that we have those huge snakes in this state. If I ever see one, it is going to lose its head.
