(20,564 posts)i've seen a scene like this (w. considerably few clothes on the dude in question)
i would never dream of taking a photo even tho i had my camera with, it was in a tourist area but i dont think anyone else was either
i get it, other people's sexualities are funny, but i dont think its necessarily right to be snapping pix
or if you must take a pic, why post it to the internet, if it was a girl in the collar i think we'd see right away that it isn't right to do w.out permission

(36,827 posts)When you take your act to the streets you're fair game to anyone who wants to take a picture. I suspect all the attention had a lot to do with why they did it in the first place.

I don't see any harm in this picture. I consider it more "dangerous" for ladies to walk in 6 inch heels. I don't see anybody else complaining about it though.

(16,191 posts)As a practitioner of Kinbaku, I assure you that there is no pleasure derived from the domination of another. Quite the opposite, actually. You shouldn't judge things you don't understand.
NJCher
(35,810 posts)I don't know what kinbaku is and I'm afraid to google it. I don't think I want it on my NSA record.

I had to google it because I didn't know either.

(6,785 posts)First impression was "My god that looks like it takes a lot of time." Second was "My god that looks uncomfortable."
Now I kinda wanna know how they keep uh...bits from going to sleep. Two minutes of sitting on my leg wrong and I can barely walk. I couldn't imagine what those ropes would do.
Xithras
(16,191 posts)I'll answer this in two parts:
First, Kinbaku is Japanese bondage, but it's also a sensual art form. I had to do some searching to find a "Safe For Work" image, but here's an example of the sort of thing I do (and yes, I can tie with this kind of complexity...a happy byproduct of being a Boy Scout as a kid):
Second, why do I do this? Is it to "get off" by dominating others? Not at all....it's exactly the opposite. Domination fetishes are usually held by the person being dominated. They want to be tied up because it turns them on, makes them horny, makes them feel safe, or something else along those lines. Everyone into domination has slightly different motivations for their particular kink, but it always boils down to "it makes them happy".
So, to answer the question of why I tie: Because I like making people happy. The simplest explanation that I can give, and I apologize in advance if this is TMI, but being a Dom is sort of like giving cunnilingus or fellatio. Oral sex provides no real pleasure to the person giving it except for the enjoyment that comes from making someone else feel better. I never even thought about this stuff until my wife revealed that she had a fetish for it. I learned it because I wanted to make her happy, and I do it because it still does. If she ever decides that she doesn't want to do it anymore, it stops. It's driven by her desires, not mine. And when she asked me to tie some of her friends (no sex, just tying), I did it for the same reason.
Now, please understand that blanket statements always have exceptions. There ARE assholes out there in the BDSM community who really do enjoy hurting others, but they usually don't last long because they're often the same people who ignore safewords and hurt their subs beyond what the subs consented to. Those people usually end up shunned by the BDSM community or in jail, and rightfully so.

(16,191 posts)I do have photos of some of my work, but none of it is safe for posting on DU and I don't have releases to share them anyway. I picked that image simply because it's very similar to my style and it's tame enough to post on this board.
The secret to quality rope work is simply "patience and practice". I was a Boy Scout as a kid (as were two of my own children, who I taught knot tying to), AND I was a rock climber for over 20 years, AND I spent a substantial part of my childhood on and around ranches, so knots and rope handling were already second nature to me. When my wife handed me a couple of bondage photos and confessed that she wanted to try it, the tying part came easily. She actually wasn't aiming for formal Kinbaku when we started, but it didn't take me long to stumble across the style and fall in love with its elegance. It's just rope, but it's also an art form.

(10,129 posts)Bravo! We just went to a rope training session at our local play space over the weekend. I have a lot to learn, but hell, that's half the fun I think.

(36,827 posts)I don't understand it, but if it floats their boat and doesn't hurt anyone else I suppose they can do whatever they want. We all have our own peculiar things that do it for us. Some just take it to an entirely different level.
