Gilligan's Island or the island from Lost - which island would you want to be deserted on

Sure Gilligan's Island is a fun place where the professor will constantly astound you with the amazing technology he can create from a few coconut shells and bamboo sticks. But on the island from Lost we have Polar Bears, Smoke Monsters and the Others Oh My.

If you were forced to live on one of these islands which include those people who were still alive at the end of the show's run - which island would you pick and why?

Other because I know there are a slew of TV programming about being stranded on an abandoned island

None - If I were stuck on either of those islands I'd start swimming for home immediately, what's a few thousand miles or so.

I'd get a chance on two different beauties, since the other men just don't seem too interested.

Problems seem easier to deal with as well.

I always kind of had the hots for the Professor.

Things seemed to be pretty comfortable, and fun stuff was usually happening.

The fateful "three-hour tour" left from Ala Wai Boat Harbor at the entrance to Waikiki, while the "Lost" plane landed near Mokule'ia Beach on O'ahu's North Shore. They were not "Lost"; TheBus route 76 stops about a half-mile down the road.

that "Lost" was a cross between Gilligan's Island and Shakespeare's "The Tempest".

I'd be happy to sit back in one of those Dharma stations. All your needs seem to be covered. Plus, I really liked Hurley. And I'll just assume he's there with me.

Also, the older couple who decided to stay and not get involved seem to be doing well.

I like this poll, lol.

But there would have to be monkey butlers a la Simpson's episode "Das Bus"

Bart Simpson: And every night the monkey butlers will regale us with jungle stories.

Nelson: How many monkey butlers will there be?

Bart Simpson: One at first, but he'll train others.

and then some scientist or a space probe will land or a cable will wash ashore or Ginger will bring out an evening gown we haven't seen.

For fucks sake.

Gilligans Island: Scavenged coconuts and palm-frond lean-to's.

Lost: Empty villages, electricity, technology, farmland.

Once you get past the polar bears and smokemonsters, the Lost island is a pretty good place to be! And the stupid numbers? That computer was an Apple II Plus. It would have been trivial to script a timer job to auto-enter the numbers. Problem solved! I was a bit perturbed that their "Junior High Science Teacher" character hadn't thought of that, as those computers were ubiquitous in schools at one point.

Like the man (or woman) said, Gilligan by a landslide.

The greatest thing about this show is how bad it was. Nothing was top shelf, it was utter crap. Yet it ruled in the first-run ratings, and is almost certainly on somewhere in the world in syndication as we post our posts in 2014.

The ultimate guilty pleasure. You knew it sucked and was horribly acted, but ya watched anyway. I know I did.

"...In the Gilligan's Island episode "X Marks the Spot" the Professor gives coordinates for the castaway's imaginary island that would put it in the outer fringes of the Marquesas group. ..."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquesas_Islands

It was supposed to be an outlying island in the Marquesas archipelago, part of French Polynesia. The Marquesas have been described as the most beautiful unspoiled place on Earth, where painter Paul Gauguin went to live the last years of his life and where Robert Louis Stevenson visited and wrote about their beauty. Herman Melville was inspired to write Typee from his visit to the Marquesas. Crosby Stills Nash and Young's song Southern Cross is about the Marquesas. Singer Jacques Brel also chose to spend the last part of his life there and is buried there.
