After watching the first 2 seasons of "Lost" on Netflix I have this to say....

I don't really like the show that much. I mean I did like the first season but by the 2nd season it just started to become bullshit. I realize there was a bit of supernaturalness built into the show that may have clicked for others but didn't click with me.

The issues I have include:

  • The big stink about the guns. At least once a week one person will make a big stink about how they have to have a gun. Sure there are creepy things on the island which require protection but after awhile it just got tedious that part of the episode was based on who had the guns, who controlled the gun access and who was begging to get a gun and the lame excuse they had as to why they wanted it.
  • I am so tired of Sawyer and his 'stuff'. Sure he was a greedy selfish douchebag with a sexy dimply smile but that message grew old. It's like if Sawyer touched it then it was HIS and no one could have it unless he played some sort of mind games with them.
  • Why couldn't the Others have taken the Australian chick and her baby. At least Michael and Walt weren't annoying but Claire just got whinier each time they showed her.
  • Did I miss the part in my life where I was to be trained as a tracker because it seems half the people on the plane had some sort of background in tracking.
  • The whole 'We're stranded on an unknown island' kinda lost it's appeal when the survivors were wrestling each other over who could claim the econosize jugs of Dharma Ranch Dressing and Green Beans. And seriously what kind of dumbass would think it's ok to have these people store their food in their huts on an island where it's hot & humid all the time. Really do any of you reading this thread want to enjoy ranch dressing that has been baking in 90 degress+ temperatures every day.
  • I was glad they killed off Ana Lucia - she was a female Sayid wannabe and not very good at it. But why did they have to kill Libby. I think she would have been good to keep around especially for Hurley.
  • Why didn't the writers put red shirts on the random people from the survivors group that insisted they tag along on the treks into the jungle. I mean I think we all knew when some random asked to tag along on the trip to get aging dynamite out of the jungle that his number was pretty much up.

At this point I am not seeing any reason to continue watching the last 4 seasons.

But it went to shaky pretty quickly. But they made one hell of a pilot episode that was guarenteed a following no matter how batcrap crazy they went.

I knew enough smarmy "knows-all-the-buttons-to-push" assholes from real life; I didn't want to offer Sawyer a place in my home on a regular basis.

Everything else was just bullshit, like you said.

Not even the gorgeous Yun-Jin Kim was able to entice me back to regular viewership.

the good news is that a lot of the stuff you complain about will be explained in the coming seasons. The bad news is that a lot of the stuff you complain about will be explained in the coming seasons.

I started this thread about it to list the problems I had with the show:

Basically, I thought the writers were making it up as they went along and it showed. Never did watch the rest of the show. Probably never will now.

I decided that whatever explanation they come up with for all the mysterious crap they were writing, I'm not going to like.

and I read some of the episode guides on Wiki and liked the sideways hop - I wanted to see what happened when the plane landed if it had landed.

I was asleep within 30 minutes.

I did find that every one of the characters had their own super annoying flaw, which made it hard to really identify with them. It was a fun ride nonetheless. I have watched it all the way through twice, and am toying with doing it again.

But it wasn't because everyone was starting to act like assholes (which they were). I was so use to watching TV series on HBO where all 12 episodes are aired one week after another with at most maybe a one week break in the middle (like of a holiday occured during the middle of the series). At the time ABC would show 4 new episodes, then do a few weeks of special programming, then a few reruns from past year and then maybe about 6-8 weeks later 4 new episodes - that I found bullshit.
