(28,394 posts)I turn some down, though. I won't serve on any that are about guns, for example.

(6,261 posts)I'm surprised. I thought it was more than that. It seems to be a daily thing lately.

(17,621 posts)I was surprised; as many times as I've been called lately, I was sure it would be more.

(14,498 posts)Free speech totalitarian that I am, I almost always vote to allow the post at issue.
I only vote to hide if the post is blatantly ad hominem and/or gratuitously vulgar and/or insulting.
Most of the alerts are... imo... frivolous. I've started to decline to participate lately mostly for that reason.
If people don't want to encounter ideas and opinions that are in conflict with their own.... well, they should go somewhere else.
To the best of my recollection, I have alerted on precisely ONE post in 10 years. Maybe two. The guy who initially called me a "smarmy doofus" back in 2005 ( thank you BTW, whoever you are) and one earlier this year having to do w. Manning/gov't spying/internet trolling on DU.
In other words... I mind my own business. As Hank Williams sang.... " If you mind your own business than you'll be busy all the time."
