After 20 years, I finally broke down.

We will be getting our first non-fish pet. I am a little nervous about this because I was not raised in a home with pets and while I like animals I never desired to have one living with me. But I am willing to try (and I told my family if it doesn't work I will be getting my own apartment . He is very cute though, isn't he?

You'll do fine!

You'll soon find in your new companionship how you ever did without the undying devotion your new friend has for your affection...

Congrats!

i'm wondering if you'll fall into puppy love and then your kid decides to move out and take the pup with her.

and congratulations. he's beautiful.

there will come a time when you quietly look into his eyes and you will be amazed at how much love you feel for him. and you will be so thankful for the fact that he is a part of your life.

All my dogs have been spoiled. I used to have Rottweilers that were spoiled rotten Rotties. Unfortunately, they went to doggy heaven. But now I have a Chihuahua that was given to me by my son when she was 6 weeks old. I couldn't help but spoil her because she was as adorable as your puppy looks in the photo. She is now 5 years old and still a spoiled rotten little brat.

Glad to hear she isn't breeding anymore....just have a lot of good toys around (chewy ones) and wear him out when you can!

Keep doors closed of rooms you don't want him in right now....my dog will still find something he's not supposed to chew on.

Good luck! She (and he) must be so excited! How old is he?

be closed all the way. I don't think he will have free reign of the house until he is trained.

I'm not sure how old the dog is, his first vet appointment is 6/5 and that is the soonest she can bring him home.

OMG my daughter is beside herself with excitement. Every night we need to discuss dog names, then watch him on the puppy cam for a while, the other night she was making imitation dog noises so I would get used to it - hysterical. I had to convince her last night not to hold off on ordering the Bark Box - which I guess is a monthly service that includes toys and treats. She needs to chill a bit...lol.

Don't believe me. When snacking anywhere in your house, look around....somewhere those eyes will be watching you. Take notice of the puppy's ability to change eye expression from "can I have some of that?" to the pathetic "I haven't eaten in a month" look. Enjoy.

His six year old son was quite shy and was not certain he liked the idea of getting a dog. He sat on the steps and kept an eye on the puppy so he knew where it was at all times. They were soon the best of pals.

use a 6ft leash to tether the pup to your belt, then you know exactly where there at all times and can respond to potty training quickly. Hold paws when hanging out, it'll make nail trimming much easier. have many happy days together
