Turbo Tax

My ex gave me her 2011 Turbo tax home and office disc after she used it. I dont want to install it if it wont work. Does Turbo Tax have some kind of limiter on it that only allows the purchaser to use the software?

I have purchased, installed and used my own TT disc ( not internet download) the past several years without a glitch. Just wondering if using her disc will cause me problems.

It is so much easier to go online to the Web site and file your taxes from there.

The fed return is free.
They charge for state.
I used it until my standard deduction became more than my itemized.

It worked for somewhat complicated returns too.
My wife used to get oil/gas royalties from a family owned property.
TaxAct handled the ins and outs of that income (oil depletion allowance, etc.) very well.

Good luck.

income is low but VERY complicated - turbo tax works great

but you have to go through the IRS site or they charge for state (or something like that) they have a free on-line version from their website but it isn't the same as going through the IRS way
