The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI just painted this
It's 3 feet by 3 feet and the colors are black and white. It was commissioned. It's from an obscure photo of Jackie Kennedy that isn't what we're used to seeing. Probably because so much of her face is in shadows.

(8,492 posts)...I think that's why I like the black and white shadow paintings/drawings of people. It shows you a whole new perspective and highlights the beauty of bone structure.
And, yes, I can see the resemblance to Evita!

(53,410 posts)It's the first time I tried painting in big blocks of shape without much detail. The inspiration came from the famous poster of Che Guevara in black and red. I'm pretty pleased with it.

(3,709 posts)I love B&W graphics, photos, and love this painting done in B&W...this is lovely. Didn't recognize it as Jackie until you said so, then saw it immediately. Very nicely done!

(53,410 posts)It was a bit worrying although I think she is quite recognizable and when someone doesn't see it at first once they're told who it is they say it's obvious.

(53,475 posts)Perhaps the fact that it's a rare photograph which is mostly dark and with her hair done in a way we rarely saw her wear it is what confuses people, because everyone agrees it looks just like her even if they have to be told who it is.
Strange that.
