Webb hated hippies too. If one appeared on the show, whatever crime was committed was done by the hippie.

It sure does look like establishment types shown are these stepford curmudgeons who are so uptight they could crack open walnuts between their ass cheeks.

marijuana is the flame,
heroin is the fuse,
LSD is the bomb.

Seriously??

We used to watch Dragnet just to laugh at Jack Webb & Harry Morgan and their adventures in LaLa Land!!

My mom was a jazz singer and told me, if you wanted to hang out with Jazz musicians and marry someone like Julie London as Mr Webb did, you had to smoke pot or they thought you where real square.

Meurisse was much more attractive. What a movie Diabolique was! A definite must-see for horror movie fans (scary and without a gallon of blood & guts).

Before Dragnet came along, Webb had a tiny role in the classic Sunset Boulevard-- very different persona from Friday. In SB, he actually (playfully) plucks an attractive lady's strap (of her gown), all the while with a grin on his mug. He looked a lot more human then.

Then there was the Johnny Carson thing with the clappers.

16. I don't know. I still like the guy a lot.

He had to know that all the jazz legends he loved were smoking pot.

I know he may have been a square and such but he was a pioneer in offering minority roles on his shows and he really did it all by directing and starring in the show.

He gave his ex wife and her new husband a job (Emergency) so they could quit the road and raise their family. Seemed like a decent guy even if he was conservative.

And Dragnet was firmly anti-gun so I can ignore the silliness of their out-dated drug policy shows.
