The photo is somewhat distorted. The bug is about 1" long, dark brown, and many-legged.
I've seen several in my house now. What is it?

They are harmless to people and if you poke him he will snap his body making an audible clicking sound and bouncing his body several inches into the air. Its a defense mechanism. Can't give you a link but google "click Beatle" images.

They are strange!
I had one, once, in an area where I have a couple of live plants and an indoor fountain.
I thought the fountain pump was shorting out, or something! Pulled all the rocks
out of the area, and sure enough, found the click beetle.

which is a form of beetle. Usually found near maple trees and their cousins, including box elders.
