Question for dancers.

How long, really, does it take to learn steps for an audition? On television shows and movies they always make it look like you need to land it by the third or fourth try. Is that realistic?

Auditions are usually just a few eight counts and consist of steps good dancers already know. The dancers aren't learning the steps per se, but rather the order in which the steps are to be performed.
